Cleveland Institute of Art
The Cleveland Institute of Arts, one of the top colleges for arts and design in the United States, was in a time of transition and growth when WolfBrown was asked to help with a strategic plan. With a new building project well underway, a curriculum in the process of redesign, and with the impending retirement of the school’s long-time CEO just a short time away, the need for a strategic plan was clear. WolfBrown designed and carried out a very inclusive planning process involving dozens of trustees, faculty members, staff, students, and members of the community. In addition to helping facilitate the curriculum redesign discussions, the consultants moderated 11 task forces and helped a planning committee recommend a plan to the trustees that was at once exciting and bold but realistic in terms of the need for sustainability and budget restraint. The consultants also worked alongside a faculty team that came up with an imaginative way to present aspects of the plan visionally. The plan was approved unanimously by the Board.
