Announcing a new Research Fellow at WolfBrown/Opportunity Lab
Dennie Wolf and Steven Holochwost welcome Kerry O’Grady, a visual artist, museum specialist, teacher, and researcher, as a 2017 Research Fellow. Kerry will collaborate on a network of projects all designed to multiply and deepen the ways in which cultural institutions, schools, and cities distribute the opportunities to belong, learn, create, and thrive. We are inventing frameworks, ways of working, tools, and new methods all designed to make this happen. At the core of this work is an effort to re-think cultural and creative equity. For now, we are thinking of this as a vibrant and evolving “opportunity lab.”
O’Grady has worked in arts education and administration for over a decade. She directed art galleries at University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and the University of New Haven, where she curated programs to engage diverse audiences in dialogue around visual arts. She also directed the Department of Education and Engagement at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, focusing on a strategic plan designed to meet the needs of civic and university audiences. She has taught visual art at the high school and university level.
O’Grady has a B.A. in art and anthropology, an M.A.T. in art education from Tufts University and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and an M.F.A. in studio art from UMass Amherst. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Education at Johns Hopkins University. Throughout, O’Grady has maintained a studio practice (along with occasional dance classes) that informs and energizes her writing and research.
