Judge David L. Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law has been a leading advocate for people with mental disabilities for thirty years.  With the funding and political environment constantly shifting, the Center turned to WolfBrown to guide the organization through a “sustainability planning” process that combined features of strategic planning and resource development assessment.  After thorough consultation both within and outside the organization, WolfBrown developed a report with wide ranging recommendations, covering board practices, program priority setting, resource development strategy, staffing needs, and more.  WolfBrown then facilitated a day-long board/staff retreat to consider the implications of the report for the organization’s structure and practices.   Even as the project was underway, changes started to take place in the organization, with new processes for setting priorities, new communications strategies both internally and externally, and staff reorganization and hiring to meet the demands of a volatile policy and funding environment.
