The Circus Barn (Circus Smirkus)
The Circus Barn (Circus Smirkus) is a nonprofit corporation with a mission to support and promote circus arts. Programs include a summer circus camp, a circus tour, school residencies, and other activities. Circus Smirkus contracted with WolfBrown to carry out a financial analysis of its operations to determine the factors involved in a current financial crisis. The consultants examined five years of activity, analyzed audits and internal financial reports, and conducted staff and board interviews. A report summarized the factors that contributed to the crisis and offered recommendations to improve fiscal operations for the future. The report was so well received, it was subsequently shared with individual and institutional funders.
