Omaha Symphony Orchestra
Faced with financial challenges, the Omaha Symphony Orchestra sought outside help. This WolfBrown consultancy began by analyzing the local performing arts marketplace and, especially, the growing competition for audiences. The project then moved on to developing alternative financial and business scenarios based on extensive research concerning revenue potential – both earned and contributed – as well as an assessment of programming and operations. On-site visits allowed for the sharing of consultant expertise in marketing and development. The scenarios ultimately presented, based partly on the experience of peer institutions nationally, looked not only at finances, but also at how musician services might be allocated, and actions were suggested that might improve the overall financial results. The Board approved a capital campaign based on positive feedback from donor-Board members to provide additional revenue through an endowment with a requirement that the recommendations of the WolfBrown report were implemented.
